Character Concept: Noki

Instead of going with the usual Cyberpunk-ish direction, I chose to go for an Inaka aesthetic this time; focusing on rural areas or a countryside outside metropolitan areas, and highlighting on the lack of urban features such as bars, shops and general entertainment.

For my school's project assignment, we were tasked with creating an original character and environment, along with a character spritesheet and ideation moodboards. I wanted to incorporate elements of the Inaka aesthetic into my characters and environment; introducing a small rural town set far-away in the mountains and seaside, populated by lighthearted characters lightly inspired by japanese mythology and design philosophies.
